We’re more than just coaches—we’re your biggest fans, helping you to become your best self.
The Healthy Baller team is committed to providing the best performance training, physical therapy, and personal training to everyone who walks through our doors. Whether you’re a total beginner, a longtime fitness lover, a lacrosse player looking to improve your field performance, or somewhere in between—everyone is welcome in our space.
Our team of passionate coaches and skilled physical therapists are here to help you take control of your fitness journey. We focus on a well-rounded, healthy lifestyle, which means we care about sport-specific nutrition for peak performance, mental health, sleep, and recovery just as much as physical training. Our specialized lacrosse conditioning programs build the explosive power, endurance, and agility that elite players need.
You’re more than your muscles. We’re more than a gym. We’re excited to hear about your goals and challenges—whether that’s dominating on the lacrosse field or improving your overall wellness—and make a plan to help you smash ’em.

Blair and the Healthy Baller team are the epitome of TEAM in all sense of the word. Their business is so well-run, coordinated, transparent and accessible. Their approach to training and development is intentional and thorough. Blair has trained our oldest son for several years and has not just developed his body, but his mind, his heart, his nutrition and his agency/self-advocacy. They talk about and plan for how our son cares for his body and mind in the many hours outside of their training sessions. While carrying out the additional mobility work, strength training, conditioning and nutrition are up to my son- it is laid out in a plan jointly created and Blair is always accessible to coach him up or answer questions. Blair is keenly aware of all aspects of my son as a person and athlete- in the present and future. As we prepare to send our son to play Division 1 basketball, his success thus far and in the future is in large part because of Blair’s guidance to develop him as both a young man and as an athlete.

Blair O’Donovan and Matt Boyd met when Matt was in 11th grade. Matt was playing basketball at Magruder, and Blair was starting his career as a strength and conditioning coach. Blair trained Matt twice a week, sparking Matt’s passion for basketball and strength training. By his senior year, Matt was interning with Blair, earning his strength and conditioning certification at 18, and continuing his mentorship under Blair.
Blair became the Head Strength & Conditioning coach for the Nike Elite Gonzaga High School program while building his client base. In 2009, he started taking clients at a small gym in Rockville, where NBA athletes soon traveled to work with him.
After college, Matt trained clients at Sport and Health before joining Blair in 2013 at the Rockville gym. Within a year, they knew it was time to expand. In early 2014, with the support of friends and family, Healthy Baller became a reality.
Healthy Baller is a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and passion for helping athletes that Blair and Matt have shared for over 15 years.
Addition of Teddy Willsey & Launch of Healthy Baller Physical Therapy
Teddy Willsey, a former training partner of Blair O’Donovan, reached out when he learned of Healthy Baller’s new location. After meeting in 2015, Teddy joined Blair and Matt in mid-2016 as a Physical Therapist and part-time Performance Coach. Starting with a small PT setup, Teddy now leads a team of 6 full-time Physical Therapists in Rockville, 3 in Alexandria, and is expanding to DC and Reston. His addition has been a huge part of Healthy Baller’s growth.
Blair was hired as Director of Player Preparation for the Washington Wizards. Blair reached the highest level of his career working for 2 years in the NBA. His connections made during this time continues to help the business grow to this day.
Addition of Chris Wychock
Chris Wychock, who ran Capital Performance Training in Bethesda, merged his business with Healthy Baller after discovering their shared passion for training youth athletes and building lasting relationships. Chris brought strong connections in the men’s lacrosse world to HB, and was a large contributor in the company’s growth, allowing for a second facility in Alexandria. In 2023, he became part of the ownership team and now serves as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing.
Addition of Gussie Johns
Gussie Johns, who was trained by Matt Boyd during her college lacrosse preparation, joined the Healthy Baller team in 2020 after retiring from playing. After having an incredible collegiate career at USC, she played for the US Women’s National Team and was a two time gold-medalist. She brought her lacrosse business with her and now serves as our CFO/COO, while still working with her lacrosse clients to help them reach their goals.
